Whole grain, fibres and germs

Our eating habits have changed considerably in the space of a few decades: we consume more refined foods, meat products and dairy products, and far fewer starchy foods (pulses, whole cereal products, etc.). This has considerably lowered our intake of dietary fibre, which in the space of a century has fallen from around 30 g per day per person to less than 20 g today.

However, the World Health Organisation's recommendation for adults is to eat at least 25 g per day to achieve normal intestinal transit.

Limagrain Ingredients provides you with a comprehensive range of solutions to naturally enrich the fibre content of food products:

  • Insoluble fibres: maize, wheat, buckwheat and oat
  • A range of stabilised integral wholegrain flours: maize, wheat, rye, barley...
  • Stabilised germs (westhove wheat germ), Nutricorn: the “heart” of the grain concentrates multiple benefits: rich in fibre, protein, B group vitamins and vitamin E, minerals (potassium, magnesium, iron, zinc)
  • Pulse range: chickpea, red bean, green lentil and faba bean. They are clean label, gluten-free, rich in fibre, protein and minerals.
