Pellets come in dough form (semi-finished products already shaped). These are fried or expanded with hot air by the snack manufacturer. There are potato, corn, wheat or multi-cereal pellets. The texture of pellets is usually crispier and denser than that of direct extruded foods. Their shapes can be more intricate and complex. There are three technologies that produce very different pellets: cuts (twist, pico and ring shapes), slices (squares, round crisps, etc.) and 3D shapes. There are also growing numbers of pellet mixes for even more pleasure and fun!
Micro-pellets are billets intended for the manufacture of popped chips.
